Water Main Replacement at 3rd and "D" St.
Starting in March of 2009 the Marion Utilities will be installing a new 12" water main along 4th St.; from Western to Gallatin, 3rd St.; from "D" to Hill, and on "D" St.; from 5th to Spencer.
The project is expected to last approximately 6 months at an approximate cost of $700,000. The process of installation is directional drilling. This process allows the contractor to install pipe without using an open trench method, keeping the road cuts and disturbed sidewalks to a minimum.
Water services will be interrupted when the contractor connects each house into the new water main. All home owners will be notified by the contractor before interruption. Water service shutdown should not last more than 1 to 2 hours each.
