14th & Nebraska Water Main Replacement

In June of 2010 the Marion Utilities started installing approximately 1,900 ft of new 12" water main along 14th St., from Nebraska to McClure St; approximately 1,100 ft in Washington from 14th to 11th and along 11th St to Adams St.

The purpose of this project was to abandon an old 4” water main and interconnect existing 6” mains in the area to improve service and fire protection.

The project was expected to last approximately 4 months at an approximate cost of $300,000. Due to some delays in construction, street repair and other site restoration was not able to be completed before the arrival of winter. These items will be finished in the spring of 2011.
