Starting in July of 2009, the Marion Utilities will be installing approximately 9,000 feet of 8” and 12” water main in the area of 50th Street to 42nd Street, Western Avenue to Harmon Street.

This project received the lowest bid from Keith Sullivan Excavating of $785,957.30 and is expected to be complete mid October, 2009.

This project is being done to improve service to the South Marion residents.

Water Main Replacement at 3rd and "D" St.

Starting in March of 2009 the Marion Utilities will be installing a new 12" water main along 4th St.; from Western to Gallatin, 3rd St.; from "D" to Hill, and on "D" St.; from 5th to Spencer.

The project is expected to last approximately 6 months at an approximate cost of $700,000. The process of installation is directional drilling. This process allows the contractor to install pipe without using an open trench method, keeping the road cuts and disturbed sidewalks to a minimum.
